QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE OF POSITION: The Estimator must have and maintain.

• Technical or tertiary qualifications 

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills. 

• Effective written and oral presentation skills. 

• Effective computer skills required to complete the requirements of the role. 

• Good telephone manner and communication skills 

• Effective time management 

• Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications  

• The ability to develop correct and compliant height safety system designs and quotations. 

• The ability to work with clients to understand desired outcomes. 

• Sound knowledge of CAD and Bluebeam Software

RESPONSIBILITIES: (Including but not limited to the following general statements describing the nature and level of work expected)

• Acquire, maintain and utilise up to date knowledge of the company’s products from the Raw Material stage, manufacturing stage to the Selling Price. 

• Acquire, maintain and utilise up to date knowledge of all Australian Standards that may be relevant to the products of RIS, e.g. AS/NZS1891, AS/NZS1657, AS/NZS5532, AS/NZS4488, etc 

• Liaise  effectively with colleagues, management, clients and sub-contractors as required to discuss & resolve issues relating to the project 

• Prepare quote estimates based on preliminary drawings 

• Prepare height safety design layouts compliant to Australian Standards, Building Codes and all other relevant legislation, regulations, etc  

• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings 

• Prepare preliminary project estimates 

• Review and analyse tender specifications, drawings and relevant special conditions. 

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and sales submissions. 

• Prepare and submit, as necessary, descriptive and informative tender estimate summary sheets highlighting tender inclusions/ exclusions and cost estimate summaries. 

• Investigate and prepare as required alternative proposals and tender cost submissions. 

• Ensure that relevant technical literature is current and that technical knowledge is current and commensurate with the demands of the position. 

• Actively participate in ‘Post Contract Reviews’ and the updating of estimate procedures and pricing structures. 

• Maintain complete and accurate records.  

• Adhere to all company OH&S procedures and other relevant company policies. 

• Perform other such duties as required which are consistent with the employee’s skill and competence

• Drawing and quote volume
