Under the supervision of the Senior Environmental scientist (Supervisor) for the Burned Watershed Geohazards (BWG) program within the California Geological Survey (CGS), the Engineering Geologist is responsible for providing modeling and assessment of pre- and post-wildfire geologic and hydrologic hazards with the ability to perform complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tasks in support of program specific research, emergency response, and hazard management. Advanced knowledge and skills related to geology, geomorphology, and hydrology will be leveraged to prepare concise, well-organized, and easily understood reports and maps to be used by experts as well as by the general public.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Working Conditions

This position is located in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, with employees required to work in-person at 715 P Street, MS 1803, Sacramento, CA 95814. At least three days of remote work and up to two days of in-office work per week is the available hybrid telework schedule for this position. Alternative work locations will not be considered.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview but must show proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
