Job Summary

Uphold is looking for an intern to join our Analytics Engineering team for a Summer Internship. You’ll work on the transformation layer that powers Uphold’s analytics and reporting — building and testing data models in dbt, writing SQL against Snowflake, and collaborating with data analysts and engineers to ensure clean, well-documented data is accessible across the business. We’ll define your project together, get to know what excites you, and tailor the challenge to fit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to building and testing dbt data models in Snowflake.


• Write and optimise SQL transformations for analytics and reporting use cases.


• Help document data models, lineage, and transformation logic.


• Collaborate with data analysts to understand requirements and surface the right data.


• Support data quality checks and testing practices across the transformation layer.


• Explore how generative AI tools (Claude, Agents, MCPs) can support analytics engineering workflows.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Ongoing academic studies or degree, preferred in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.


• Foundational knowledge of software development, preferably with experience in Python.


• Basic experience with SQL — comfortable writing queries and understanding relational data structures.


• Basic experience with GenAI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or others).


• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.


• High attention to detail.


• Solid communication skills, both oral and written.


• Fluent written and oral English skills.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Interest in data modelling concepts (dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas).


• Exposure to dbt or interest in SQL-based transformation frameworks.


• Familiarity with version control (Git / GitHub).


• Enthusiasm for solving real-world problems with data.


• Interest in data quality, testing, and documentation practices.


• Experience with BI tools like Metabase, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.


• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).


• Fluency in cryptocurrencies or other digital assets as they are core to our business.


• Community talks, certifications, and/or blog posts on your interests and research.


• Open-source project contributions of any kind.
